Love’s Arrival (A Grandfather’s Reflection)

 I. Awaiting You

I yearn for you, dear child, to grace our days.

For in this world of wonders, we shall meet.

In your breath, life’s gentle grace will be sweet.

You’ll bloom and grow through every tender phase.

With every smile, you’ll light our path anew,

Within your eyes, the stars begin to gleam.

My grandchild dear, my joy, my cherished dream,

To inspire us in all we say and do.

A glimpse of you will brighten every room,

Your fingers curling gently round my thumb.

Your laughter sounds like morning birds in bloom,

Soft cheeks pressed close against this face well-worn.

So come, sweet child, your grandpa waits with grace,

To hold you close and kiss your precious face.

 I. Now That You’re here

We yearned for you, our cherished one, to come.

In verses past, I dreamed you'd light my days,

And now you’re here, in sweet and wondrous ways,

A gift of love from both your dad and mum.

Each smile you share ignites my heart anew,

Your gaze, a spark that stars would gladly keep.

The joy once dreamt is now profoundly deep,

Inspiring me in everything I do.

You shine anew in every waking sight,

With eyes that mirror your dear mother’s grace.

Your voice, a song that brightens time and place,

A force of love in morning, noon, and night.

So now, dear child, you’ve made my heart your own.

In you, the seeds of all my dreams have grown.

You came, and the waiting has turned aflame,

This warmth melts time into a smile today.

That rewrites the rhythm of  each new day.

This world, once mundane, has now earned your name.

In your bright eyes, a light I’ve never known,

A softer spark than all the years with boys.

You fill my soul with unfamiliar joys.

You bloom where rougher roots once stood alone.

You bounce up and down, your feet barely land,

To bachata’s beat, wiggling to great heights.

For all our hearts pulse with your dancing lights.

Who knew such rhythm would live in each small hand.

You are the verse I never knew to write,

The song that turns my ordinary bright.

Llegaste, y la espera ardió en su fin,

este calor funde el tiempo en sonrisa,

y reescribe el ritmo que el día avisa.

El mundo, antes gris, ya lleva tu sin.

En tus ojos brilla una luz sin par,

más suave que años de amores lejanos.

Llenas mi alma de gozos tempranos,

floreces donde hubo raíz sin dar.

Saltas sin tocar del todo el suelo,

al son de bachata, subes danzando.

Nuestros corazones van palpitando,

¡quién pensó hallar ritmo en cada dedo!

Eres el verso que no supe hacer,

la canción que sabe el día encender.

A little girl, our joy, our cherished dream,

Inspiring us, in all we say and do.

Oh, sweet anticipation fills our days,

For in your presence, we'll find pure delight,

As we await your laughter's gentle haze,

Our hearts aglow, in love's eternal light.

So come, dear child, our lives you'll soon adorn,

In your embrace, our love will evermore be born.

 "Growth in a Garden of Love"

I watch you bloom, a rosemary from afar
A distant gaze upon your tender face,
Your roots are nourished, safe in loving arms,
And time reflects the care that leaves no trace.

Your tiny hands reach out to warmth and light,
Where gentle hearts and steadfast love reside.
You flourish in the calm of day and night,
Unseen, a quiet force stands at your side.

Yet in the soil of love you’ll always keep,
An unseen bond grows stronger as you wake.
Though far away, this love runs strong and deep,
And rosemary will bloom for love’s own sake.

Through loyalty, through patience, you will grow,
In love’s embrace, forever you will know.

At Christmas time, my darling girl will be,
With laughter in the air and eyes so bright,
Her curious gaze reflects the twinkling light,
As colors spark her joy and wild glee.

With tiny hands, she reaches out in play,
Exploring gifts and ornaments with zest,
Each crinkle, jingle, puts her to the test,
Her giggles dance like snowflakes in the sway.

She babbles softly, songs of pure delight,
And every smile ignites the room with cheer,
A precious spirit, brightening the year,
As we embrace her warmth on this sweet night.

In cuddles shared, our hearts begin to bloom,
A Christmas filled with love, dispelling gloom.

As autumn leaves begin to swirl and dance,
My little one, with eyes like autumn skies,
Explores the warmth of love in family ties,
Each gentle smile invites a sweet romance.

With giggles bright, she captures every glance,
Her coos and babbles fill the room with cheer,
Each soft embrace, a treasure to hold dear,
In her presence, joy blooms like a harvest’s chance.

She reaches out, with tiny hands that play,
Awash in laughter, warmth, and food’s delight,
A world of wonder shines within her sight,
As we gather close to share our thanks today.

In cuddles shared, our hearts are intertwined,
A grateful blessing in her light we find.
